A/C Condenser Mounting

Post by chimpvalet »

Hello,
Have a Lotus with low profile nose in need of a new condenser, looking at modern flat tube condensers but concerned about the mounting angle needed to fit. One well-known supplier advises these must be installed vertically but is there some wiggle room?
Thanks

Lots of wiggle room. Corvettes had radiators and condensers that were tilted quite a bit. And older Porsche 911's had the condensers attached to the engine cover-installed almost laying flat. I'm sure there are others.

Thanks, but did those Corvettes and Porsches use flat tube, plate/fin condensers/rads? I know one can angle round tube/fin units all over the place but it's these newer design things I'm asking about.

Attached photo is of an evaporator, rather than condenser, but shows the design in question.

Thanks
