327 SBC carb tuning advice and recommendations

Post by Chevelle69 »

First time posting just found this site it’s pretty awesome ! Anyways I got a question about the carb I’m running the combo I got is
-327 .60 over
-190cc pró comp heads
-I don’t any info on the cam(was given to me) it’s solid lifter likes to idle around 1000-1100 and has 10- 11 inches of vacuum
-victor jr intake with 1 inch 4 hole tapered spacer
-10:1 compression forged pistons and bottom end
-4 speed car, stock rearend gears for now 3.08 in 3500 lb 69 chevelle 24 intial 37 total is what the car likes

I got a proform 750cfm street series carb Running super rich got an AFR to tune her. Got the idle to 13.2 but while getting on her shes rich. 10-12 average 11

Prijets 72 sec 80
Power valve 6.5 and 31 nozzles
Thinking of going to 5.0 power valve and 28 nozzles
Went to 73 air bleeds all 4 corners

You guys think I can make this carb setup with my combo or should I step down to a 650 cfm ? Was looking at the quick fuel or brawler models. Maybe Even AVS2 Edelbrock 650cfm ? Was also thinking of switching to an air gap intake manifold

Street driven car, rare track time Thanks guys

Sounds to me as though a simple jetting change then going back over the off-idle is where I'd be looking.

Being a street driven car,I would put an RPM intake on it and try 2 sizes smaller jet front and rear. With just a 308 gear it will be a little soggy on takeoff with the open plenum intake. JMO :D Good car to have :D

step down the accel pump shooters a few numbers until its clean and crisp, then worry about the power valve after. likely you dont need to mess with it. much easier to make one change at a time.
