Could very well be that they'd advertise it if it did.

In heavy rail, we now use the Nord-Locks almost exclusively. In the high vibration areas (like wheel caps) it's Nord-Locks AND safety wire.

We've been using nordlock washers on our stamping presses at the shop for about 20 months, cuts out the weekly torque checks, just by switching we've been able to go to a monthly torque check. And some of these bolts are over 300 ft lbs.. they work great, tried to get the boss to go to safety wires so we could just do visual inspections quickly. They don't want to spend the money just yet..

Neat idea. Seems like it would prevent unlimited backoff but there would have to be some loose motion for the spring clutch concept to work on the threaded diameter. Also would the male thread become damaged and one-use? Is precision sizing of a socket wrench required? Not criticism, just observations.

I wonder if one could have precision bolts with an unthreaded tip that the spring could immediately grip?

We use "torque stripe" (aka Dykem Cross Check) as a visual reference for any movement of the fastener. Since we're a quasi governmental agency, the manufacturer depends on the lowest bid contract, but Dykem is common.

Interesting – so, how freely available are these KATO LockOnes (where, how much)?

My vibrations just consist of going over rutted dirt roads, but it was enough to unscrew my six M6 bolts holding my skid pan, but being of a heavier metal to protect my oil pan, we call it a bash plate. Nordic Lock (Nord-Lock Wedge / Delta Protekt Heico-Lock) washers were sufficient to keep them in place where lock washers couldn't.

Finally stripped the M6s pulling the heavy bash plate up to the body and replaced (drilled and tapped) the two front ones with high-tensile M8 bolts and the four back ones with M10. Problem solved.
