carb to 68 cowl hood

Post by DCal »

Can I get a 2" spacer on a SBC with an Air Gap and a drop base GM air cleaner in a 68 Camaro with a stock cowl hood? I don't want to waste dyno time if possible and I don't know what to tell carb guy. Using a holley-type carb. Other than the manifold there must have been a million of these running around

Incredibly hard question to answer due to many different engine mounts available.
Inside the enclosed .pdf gives an example of how many different motor mounts and heights used.

Shoot just said file too large. Let me see if I can screen shot the Moroso guide.

Thanks in-tech. I can see the complexity, the Milodon pan is 8.25 deep and they say to use the tall motor mount but don't give a part number. I will look up the catalog though. I see that you're in NHRA Stocker country so I've probably met you when I was at the races for CP Pistons.

Yepper, I used to run around with a bunch of scallywags so we probably met somewhere,
Were you able to download that info? If not, I'll figure a way to upload somewhere so you can get it. I think my catalog .pdf is from 2013

Four of those scallywags rented our Mooresville NC track the week before Brainard and invited me out, the best time I've had at the drags in a while.
I did not find the pdf file but several pictures w/dimensions so I'll manage to figure something out. thanks

I know on my 68 Firebird which has about the same hood clearance as a Camaro cowl hood I got a 1.5" (1" spacer and 1/2" nos plate) spacer setup under my hood with the GM drop base air cleaner.

Thank you very much, that's what I came up with too. Well I figured that I wasn't going to get a 2 inch there anyway. lol

When I check my carburetor to hood clearance I mount my phone under the hood somewhere and close it with the video camera turned on.
