upper control arms

Post by eugene12 »

Ok so here i go again i used to be a Moog guy but put problem solver inner tie rods on a 1995 Sierra and lasted only a year what crap I am old school when things where truly made in the U.S.A. well now i am 66 years old and now have a 2011 Silverado WT 4.3 and in the future gonna need upper ball joints this truck has now 152,000 miles and runs good and in decent shape. what i would like to know is are there any good replacement control arms with Changeable ball joints and greaseable the Ac Delco ones but non greaseable and you have to replace the whole arm each time what a load of crap. got any ideas would be great thank in advance.

I replaced the lower ball joints on my 04 Silverado in the original arms. Set the arms up on the milling machine and did a proper job removing the rivets. Bolted the new ball joints in. Didn't even need an alignment. Maybe I'm missing something but why can't you do the same? A little tougher without a mill but certainly doable with care.

these ball joints are not rivited in the bottom is pressed in and the top ball joint is a one piece design with the ball joint included cannot just replace the ball joint. what i am looking for is a upper control arms that replace the factory ones with the pressed in ball so they can be replaced without doing the control arm, if they even make such a thing with it being greasable too. thanks in advanced.

You didn't mention whether or not your truck is 2WD or 4WD but they do make greasable replacement controls arms with the ball joint.
This one is for a 4WD.

Guy i kinda know replaced his uppers 3 times on his 2009 Silverado, idk the mileage tho. Just checked my 2009 and everything feels tight at 87k. Only thing that I can think of is he has Big Wheels and I got the stock 17 steelies.
