Wanted: KO LEE rod aligner

Post by Dave Koehler »

I have a project that need some short expanding mandrels. The expanding mandrels that come on the antique KO Lee rod aligner would do the trick.
I am not interested in the base or the bending rods. Just the mandrels and their related pieces (tapered cones, stud, handle clamp).
Anyone got one laying in the corner?

Looks like this.

Dave! a few days ago I stumbled on some KO Lee expanding mandrels on Ebay when I was looking for a set of instructions for a Storm Vulcan rod aligner. Maybe they are still there. My Ebay search words were "rod aligner".

Would an internal holding 5C collet and one those universal collet bodies that allow you to use 5C collets on a mill work to hold the parts the way you need? They are realtively cheap and easy to find.

Understood. i have and use such tooling. This project is a bit odd and variable. Those short expanding mandrels would do the trick.
