Hello jred. No I have not had any luck repairing my computer yet. Thank you for all your help on this.

I do know of this computer on ebay. It seems like it has been advertised for years. I have contacted him and it is a 1988 model. It won't plug into my machine. They are different. He also says in his ad that he plugged it in in place of his earlier computer, which I assume must be a red screen model, and it shut down. It sounds like he fried the whole thing. $2500 for scrap is very expensive.

I am trying to get a computer that has a different problem than mine. My tech guy says he should be able to work through both computers by comparing them to each other to find the fault and if I am lucky I may end up with a spare computer if he can fix both.

Thanks. Allan.

Ok but all the green faced computers that are here in Tucson are like the one on Ebay and do not look like yours,, I was under the impression that after the one that looks like the 0ne on eBay that Hines went to a computer screen and some soft ware with 2 black looking globes with lines though them,,

I am under the impression that T&S and CWT was using some software that looks like the Turner boys were helping them or did the development on it but that has also changed ,,and I think that they are now doing there own,,

By the way thanks for the link on the percentages as I have looked and Hines had some in their old manual that came with the machine but not much info as the 1 downloaded,,

Used to have to call GARY at Abs for info he was very good but has since passed away and we could get heavy metal from them 1 or 2 or as many as you wanted or needed,,

There is a area on Turners website that you can download the software and play with it if your interested email back and I'll walk you though it,,

best of luck on you machine but I'm afraid that you are sooner or later going to be forced into the upgrade..

The one on eBay is similar to mine but an earlier version. Mine has more plugs on the back. The lower part of the computer with the motor controls is removable so the differences there do not matter as I can use mine. I have no idea what the blue buttons on the right hand side do. Hines have obviously upgraded things as the model aged. The one on ebay I think must be the very first of the green screen machines as it was made in 1988. My computer is a 1993 model.

I'm happy the download link I gave to you was useful.

I did download the demo software from Turner already.

Thanks. Allan.

Here is a better photo of my computer. The bottom part is the speed controller for the motor. It is removable so it does not need to be the same there.

Thanks. Allan.

From Hines it is around $8000 USD. By the time I get it here in Australia it will be around double that.

Allan,

This is Michael from Turner Technology. We can put together an upgrade for your Hines for under $5000. We can sell it to Mark at PO Machine in AZ, and he can send it to you. This will do far more than fix your machine. You will have far more features, greater reliability, and a great warranty.

Thanks, Michael

Hello Michael.

Thanks for your reply. I may have to go down this road but I want to first exhaust all my options on trying to repair this one.

Part of my problem for not going this way 1st is that I am in Australia and our exchange rate on the US dollar is so low now that it will cost around $11000 AUD plus import duties by the time I get it here. Another thing is I have not seen one live or used it. Perhaps you could PM me on here with some information on it.

Thanks. Allan.
