amcenthusiast.....This and your other thread about the complete
engine build up I have found very fascinating and takes me back
to my younger years when I watched a couple of old timers
that would do more with less if that makes sense.....what you have
shown in these threads is how to think and reach deep inside to bring
out the old school craftsman that got by more on his skills and ability
to figure things out than just picking up the summit catalog and loading
up a charge card.

I have much respect for what you did with this project and thanks for
taking the time to detail it and put it out there for the world to see and
hopefully learn and be inspired from it.....

Thanks and I hope all is well for you.

With so much negative criticism about this engine's cylinder heads, thanks for the positive comment.

Many unknowns about this engine.

For example: All the parts vendors list and sell spark plugs for Rambler V8 with 'reach' that are 1/16" too short.

Not sure how the parts books got that way, but it is 'super dumb' to snug the spark plugs in, flip the heads over and see them sunk down in the hole -doesn't take a genius to see they are obviously 1/16" short.

(for anyone else who reads this, Champion L78YC is your correct spark plug, not H14)

I'm placing my bet on this engine's combustion chamber shape -to make good power vs. going overboard with the size of the exhaust ports and exhaust system.

Only this week I think I've finally got the valve train parts selection problem sorted out enough to make a decent baseline test at a dragstrip.

Thanks for the positive comment.

I used to have more time to spend on Internet forums.

My life is changed now where I need to spend time doing other things in order to move on to the next goal.

Thanks Speed-Talk for this space to show and tell about American Motor's '56-'67 Rambler V8 engine.
