I took it in '71 or so?

I used to be able to calculate coal-fired power plant thermal eff's. Can't do it now because it's been too long ago.

A Toshiba 100hp 1800rpm NEMA Premium Efficient Motor is 95.4% efficient.

How much energy does the battery-charging process take, vs. the delivered energy of that battery pack?

Lithium ion batteries can have round trip efficiencies as high as 95% when new, falling to 75% - 85% with age.

They're AC.

The real magic of electric drivetrains isn't in the motor itself, it's in the drive. Advancements in the switching frequency, amplitude control, feed in and feed out, etc are where they're improving. The electric motors of 2019 are barely any better than those of 30 years ago.

Begs the question, should the new EV be allowed to race in conventional bracket dial in programs ? I would think the EV would not be affected by weather input other than maybe battery temp and charge? Looking at the new Tesla platform my bet is the technology is far superior to conventional cars? Like traction control etc...
