I'm not debating that from an environmental point of view it would be better but there are certainly a set of drawbacks, one of them is battery technology and charging speed.

Added to that, imagine a Ferrari not making a sound. I don't think I would be interested.
Or worse, imagine a race were the cars wouldn't make a sound.

No need for imagination; electric car racing has been in existence for years. E.g.,Google 'Formula E car racing'.

Have you watched a race ... all you hear is gear whine? And the drivers change cars when the charge runs out. Embarrassing! I wonder how many cars would be needed to run a 500 mile race? #-o

Still doesn't change anything to the remark I made

Right now it's cheaper to "fill-up" an electric car than it is to fill a gasoline car. But how will it compare when even 25% of the cars on the road are electric? The price of electricity will be through the roof! We don't have enough supply to keep up with the demand.

I work at a hot isostatic pressing facility and there are days in the summer when the power company calls up and says that we can't fire up our big furnace because too many people are running their air conditioning.

People will have to get generators for their homes so they can afford to turn on a light. Heck, you'll probably see people charging their electric cars with diesel generators. After all, that's no less "green" than plugging it into the grid. Electricity has to come from somewhere.

Who will farm the grain to feed the beef to make the cheeseburgers with electric tractors...lol. Some people don't have a clue how the world works other than Safeway sells ground beef, they make it in the back.

You can put speakers on the car and record the sound of any engine, imagine your Tesla sounding like a top fuel hemi.

Yup. You're right. I got the numbers around the wrong way. Should have typed it 7.4 not 4.7.

Cheers

Speakers! They would be producing fake sound then. As if things weren't bad enough, now we get to have cars with fake sounds trying to be passed off as something they aint.

Too much "virtual" this and "simulated" that, too much "fake", just way too much BS in the world already. I prefer real.

Graphene is the way. Virtually super conducting (no loss of electricity traveling through it. It is hundreds of times stronger than steel. Several times harder than diamonds. Lighter than air... Corrosion proof. Flexes and stretches. And can be made out of common items, like from the graphite in your pencils when you were in school. Or coal, or old tires, or sugar, or wood or....

Look up graphene batteries, graphene super capacitors, graphene tires, graphene solar cells, graphene fuel cells ( the kind that makes electricity from hydrogen), to name a few. Its abundant everywhere.

Homes may very well no longer need the electric companies, and be able to make and store the power they need thanks to graphene. When you move graphene over nano diamonds there is no friction, so no wear nor loss of power from friction.

Graphene is todays buzz word, just as plastic and silicone use to be. It may detect and cure many diseases, and make wars impossible. Graphene is highly bullet and fire proof and is naturally transparent. It transfers heat 12 times or more better than copper.

Now you can dream of the graphene rods or cranks, or the whole engine, drive-trains,, and bodies and windshields, but the fact is who will want them with any combustion engine. People use to love the horse and buggy and hayrides and there are still a few around.

Lithium will be replaced by graphene. Steel, aluminum, and the rest also. Graphene can both make and store the power. Graphene can make power from light, and rain, and wind, and hydrogen, and maybe able to filter the hydrogen out of the air.

Here is a youtube channel I have been watching on this

https://www.youtube.com/user/RobertMurr ... =0&sort=dd

Or you can also just google graphene.

Well if a vehicle is too silent, a pedestrian may not hear it and step out in front of it ...

Maybe mandatory playing cards clothes-pined to rub on the spokes, like we did with out bikes when we were 8? :-k

If they are to stupid to look both ways then we probably don't need them anyway...Natural Selection!

My thoughts, when he said that, and besides we even hear bicycles approaching normally, or foot steps. Besides this there will most like be radar onboard, to alert the drivers of deer or the unaware.

Yeah I was amazed to see a report where city's were looking at putting signal lights in the side walk to save people that text and walk into oncoming traffic!
I think we should get rid of signs like "Don't stop on RR tracks" and replace air bags with explosives, but thats just me.
