I just heard from one of the administrators and they are considering setting up a new technical section in the forum to cover information and discussion about the new current and emerging technology in electrical performance vehicles and electrical vehicle power systems. We might be going someplace new and interesting! Ahh Progress! Love the smell of performance, even electric motor performance. They can smoke tires you know!
FWIW, a while back, at a strip day, I drove a Tesla and a 427" Cobra replica back-to-back against each other, then watched two other drivers race them. The Cobra is old school, concentrate on the launch, roaring, smoking, smelling, shaking, shifting, while the Tesla just motored away silently into hyperspace. Launching a Model S P100D in full-on Ludicrous Easter-egg mode snaps your body in a manner that is utterly impossible to replicate in any other street-legal production car on normal tires and dry asphalt at a mid-$100,000 price point. Oh, yes; no matter who was driving which, the Tesla won every time.
On the drive home, up the crowded freeway, the Cobra was just as miserable as I remember over the fifty years I've occasionally been in one. When we switched to the Tesla, it was dead silent, smooth, comfortable for four. I still haven't been in them often enough to adjust to the self-driving mode, but one can see the future from there.
Bottom line - we own and daily drive an electric. We own and occasionally drive three hot rod Studebakers.
