This gentleman definitely had some access to machining and fabricating equipment that the average DIY guys would probably not have.
Check out EV West in California. They built a Mustang conversion I remember that had some awesome performance numbers.

I dream of one day adding a hybrid system to my toy. It is currently rear engine RWD so I thought electric wheel motors on the front to make it AWD. Run the motors as generators during braking or cruising to charge the battery.
