Comp Fuel Systems Approach to Racing Carburetors

Post by NormS »

Competition Fuel Systems was founded to provide custom-modified Holley carburetors to racers and engine builders. We never use advertising hype or gimmicks to sell our carbs. Instead, we rely on decades of experience with racing engines to build custom carbs that make very competitive power without sacrificing driveability. We work with you, the customer, to engineer carburetors with excellent airflow and, more important, with precise fuel metering under all part-throttle and full-throttle conditions experienced by your engine and vehicle.

We have spent over 40 years specializing in modifying Holley carbs, so racers and engine builders can count on our extensive knowledge of the way racing engine components and carburetor design interact to make horsepower and create driveable torque. Each CFS carburetor is individually modified based on critical, confidential information provided by the customer. We'll ask you to provide engine and fuel-delivery system specs and tell us about the operating conditions your vehicle faces in its typical racing environment. That way we can customize your carburetor to help your engine make competitive power in the broadest possible RPM range.

There is no such thing as one size fits all. Yes, there are some models of Holley and Holley clone carbs that apply themselves well to a broad range of engine sizes and types, and types of racing. But the custom calibration of our carbs is one of the major keys to their success. We have always strived to improve air flow, but never at the expense of the precision of the fuel metering. A high flowing carb that does not meter well, is basically useless. We have developed modifications and calibration techniques that give precise fuel metering in all of the sizes of our carbs, and that allows a wider range of choice, of carb models, for any particular engine and application.
