I Went out for my birthday, last night, and I’m in no shape to deal with them, so I forwarded them to you.
Just kidding, I have no idea why they went to you. Hopefully we will get it fixed soon.
Can you copy them, and PM them to me ?

I (thought) I had installed a better "Contact Us"-form (forum-extension) for folks who lost their password or had trouble logging in.
A lot of spam was being sent through the regular contact-page of the forum.
But appearently the extension sends notifications to more forumusers (or group) then just the Admin-group.
I've disabled the extension for now so this won't happen again.

Thanks. Is this the reason on many web pages there are questions so a person can prove that they are not a computer?

Yes, those are counter-measures for "automated spambots". Unfortunatly a very needed solution.

But there are more solutions available.
Here at the Speed-Talk forum we use a simple question that has to be answered for new members before their registration is completed.
This blocks 99% of the spambots because they can't answer the question where some reasoning is needed for, so they get stuck and the registration isn't completed.
Once in a while a human-spammer is able to answer the question and makes it through and can post his spam on the forum. Luckily the amount of times this happens is very manageable.
And if the amount of spam does increase (meaning; the answer to our question is getting known by a larger group of spammers), we can change the question so they have to start over again.
