Yes, I've looked at that Edelbrock cam too and I think it would be another good choice. Very similar to the Crane 260 but with a little less lift and exhaust duration. Almost any one of these mild cams would serve my purposes.
No doubt the -929 cam was a great design; it was used in small blocks from the late 1950s to the mid 1970s on everything from 283/2 bbls to 350/4 bbls and was only replaced due to changing emissions laws.
I think it was also used in the 265hp, 400 engine if not mistaken??

Now guys, tell me if I am all wet here but I worked with a guy that had onna those shag carpet custom mid '80's vans that he told me that it had a 400 in it with a factory Q-Jet on it!! is this correct??

He drove it to work, but I never bothered to look under the so-called hood to verify it..

Late to the party here, but about 12-13 years ago, I had a 327 that was basically built to 300hp specs, (64cc heads, flat-top pistons in a factory short block - "factory" as in still running the same rings and bearings the factory installed). It was in a '65 Nova with a PG and 3.08 gears. I used a Reed hydraulic flat tapped (Reed no longer in business). Specs were:

264/272
214/218 @ 0.050
.450/.460
110 LSA
106 ICL

With a performer intake, Q-jet, and 1.5" headers, it ran well, Eventually went 14.40 @ 99 mph with a Muncie M20 (swapped in place of the PG), and 3.36 gears. All on a tired, original short block.

I would buy the cam from Camking above. Sounds perfect for a heavier car, based on my experience with a similar engine.

I prefer the Melling 22110 over the Edelbrock performer cam and its clones. Its 204/214 @.050" on a 110 LSA. The tighter LSA seems to work better on a SBC. If you're not afraid of a solid cam something like the COMP 270S at 224/224 @.050 runs really well in a 327. I ran a regrind solid cam from Oregon Cam Grinding in a 327 for many years in my 56 Chevy. It was 225/225 @ .050" on a 108LSA with .020" lash and it ran really strong with a 700R4 and 3.55 gears. I had 461 heads on it and around 9.5:1 compression. Lashed it about once a year and it never moved since it was so mild. It pulled in overdrive with the lockup on down to 13-1400 RPM and was a great cam.
