Cam spec research
I have a 119566SM 01L2B camshaft out of a 406 sbc. No cam card and I want to degree it when it is installed in another 406 I’m building. My first engine build. Etched numbers on front of cam are 289 300 R5 KO132 45-46. Anyone have an idea of what this may be?
Re: Cam spec research
That's the part# of the cam core, and when it was made.
The cam core was made by Crane, and was roughed in with a .400" lobe lift, a 106 LSA, and a .985" Base Circle.
I believe the other numbers are the grind numbers, and it looks like an old UltraDyne.
289/300 @.020"
256/267 @.050"
179/187 @.200"
.425"/.425" Lobe Lift
105 LSA

Re: Cam spec research
Mike,
Could you please share the technique of accurate cam lobe measurement?
Is there a different method used for a flat tappet vs roller follower?
How does one determine valve lift curves from cam lift data?
How accurate, in lift and angle, does cam measurement have to be?
Do different cam manufacturers use different methods of measurement?
