General Kinetics Cams

Post by BadBee »

Hello All
Years back in my 69 Bee I had a 440 /6 pack with a GK
cam however when rebuild came they were out of business with the internet now I’m trying to find the specs. I don’t have the #’s but it was an RL(redline) but for some reason I believe the the lift was 520/480? It was built on a recipe in Hot Rod Magazine back in the day. I’m doing a build in my 69 Dary 440/6 pack and that GK cam was the balls. Any help is Appreciated
Thanks
Mitch

id bet if you contact mike jones, owner of this site he can whip you up something similar but with modern lobes, and all the goodness that comes with that.

When Lunati was still a separate company, they bought most of the GK masters after Jack Roush got whatever lobe profile masters he wanted.
They were way far ahead of anybody else when it came to flat tappet lobe profiles; Harold Brookshire took a lot of that knowledge from them when he worked there in the early 70's.

They had a 288/304 @.004" - 236/247 @.050" - .336"/.334" lobe lift .904" lifter diameter camshaft which was their "go to" Mopar street/strip camshaft. Until a couple years ago I had some remaining in stock ... used the last one I had.

Joe Lunati and Don Teweles were pretty good business friends, exchanging "stocker" cheater profiles all the time.

I recently had a Mopar hydraulic cam ground by Bullet Cams which was as close to that GK as I could find.
#HC282/335 intake lobe: 282 @.006" - 234 @.050" - .335" lobe lift
UD- H21 exhaust lobe: 300 @.006" - 244 @.050" - .335" lobe lift

Bullet has all the masters from Harolds Ultradyne. It's on line. Pick your lobes and have at it. bullettcams.com/Masters/ultradynemasters/html
I think Lunati has the legal rights to GK. Harold left an impressive trail. Bullet or Lunati can fix you up.

It was Lunati ... but, others probably have very similar lobe profiles for a .902" diameter lifter.

Last Summer I gave a suggestion to get as close to that camshaft as possible. I had one ground and it works great in a street 440.
