I saw a 40 hp increase bolting on the Weiand TunnelRam. The motor is really a mild piece so I could believe a 100 hp increase on a more serious motor.

The long ram intakes were never about horsepower; they were designed to boost torque in the street driving RPM range and did that well.

Exactly. Chrysler claimed a 10% torque increase toggling around 2800 rpm.

The 2800 rpm figure was for the long ram version. The ShortRam version sacrificed some low-end torque for more high end hp. Factory ratings were 375 hp&400 hp respectively.

Here some info that you guys might like. It's a Mopar add for the Dodge Dart, from June of '62.

Like I said, I'm not a Mopar guy so this Short Ram stuff is confusing for me. I'm 77 yrs old and I vividly, remember those long ram tube manifolds but, I didn't know that some were called short ram, as my first post shows, then I find this Dodge Dart add these are also called short ram.

From what I read, in the beginning, the long runner "Short Rams" are call short, because the plenum, extends up the runner, and in the "Long Ram" the port divider extends full length, to the plenum, where the carb is mounted?

This add gives a pretty compete description of the 410 HP, 413. It looks like a pretty potent package.

I think the intake in the pic was called the 'cross ram'.

Yes that a picture of a crossram, completely different animal. I wish I was a little more computer savvy and I'd post some pictures.

If you ever get the chance hook a vacuum gauge to a max wedge crossram and take it out the highway, you will find that about 5,500 under WOT it will actually build pressure in the manifold, my experience was 1 inch of pressure, then about 6,000 rpm it drops back to zero. I also can the wieand cross ram on my race car with a single dominator top, it was also available for the 6 pack three two barrels. My car ran 10.90's with the wieand and with the factor cross ram 11.20's no other changes. Lots of low end torque with the cross ram, but it loses power at high rpm, if you measure the runner lengths and include the port in the head, you get about 13 inches, which tunes for low RPM power.

..........
Those cast exhaust manifolds impress me, even today.

Even some of my Chevy loving buds freely acknowledge Mopar's performance packages of decades past were thoroughly designed . For instance, The strength of the rear ends was much more up to the task.

If they weren't so expensive I'd love to get a set of the long rams to play with on a truck motor I am building.

The long rams are generally cheaper than the ShortRam version, just more sets out there.

They may be cheaper but still asking prices from what I have seen are about $1500. Lots of money for an intake.

Just need a wayback machine. In 1965 or so, in the right front corner of Bo Fields garage, home of the Mud Creek Racing Team, (RIP, Bo) there sat complete intakes, carbs, linkage. Bo's brother-in-law, Jim Parsons, was a Mopar tech and he'd been told to replace the long ram 2x4s with a single 4-bbl because the customer complained about the fuel mileage. No one at the dealership wanted them, so Jim brought them to Bo's and they sat in the corner for as long as I was around there.
