GMC inline 6 302 CAD of head surface. And anyone know of better timing gear.
I am looking for a good CAD drawing of the deck or head surface of a GMC 302. I can put it in the mill and draw it up. but I bet someone already has one.
Also is the 292 timing gears and the 302 the same. Or does anyone make a good gear drive set up

According to the Cloyes catalog the 292 is a different timing set than the 302 Cloyes number for the 302 is 2831S I have never had a problem with any of their timing sets.

Just out of curiosity ... does the "Twin Six" 702 V12 use a better/stronger timing set ...
that engine was merely 2 GM 302 V6's with a common block.

I think that the twin was two V6s.
On our 250 in-line 6 we used jesel lifters and built a belt drive. I guess we will have to do it again.
This is a maximum effect engine.

1959 -1974 GMC 60° V6 big block engines were produced in 305", 351", 401" and 478". During the latter years of production, 379" and 432" versions with enlarged crankshaft journals were manufactured as well.
GMC produced a 637" 60° V8 using the same bore and stroke as the 478" V6. The 637" V8 was the largest displacement production gasoline V8 GM ever made for highway trucks.
The largest engine derived from the series was a 702" Twin-Six V12, which shared heads and most interior parts with the 351". It was never installed in highway trucks and was usually a stationary powerplant.

I guess it all depends if you call a fire truck a "highway truck"; it certainly is not stationary.
When I was a teenager ... the first 702 I ever saw was in a fire truck.

Well, a fire truck moves under it's own power, but no, it's not a Class 8 highway truck.Walter R. Malik wrote: ↑Mon Jan 10, 2022 7:29 pmI guess it all depends if you call a fire truck a "highway truck"; it certainly is not stationary.

Not a CAD but a photo...The OP said 302 but I assume he meant the V6 and not the 302 inline 6

228-302 blocks and heads all have the same headbolt pattern...Gotta be some out there in Texas.

Howdy! Did you ever find a DWG of the deck/head? I'd like that as well. I have a few GMC 6s and one project is a hybrid head I want to build for a possible Bonneville car
