The MEL engine used two different pumps throughout its life.
The regular pump will fit but, the compound pump wont.

Randy,
I know about the compound pump (Ford part #C0ME 6600-A), it appears to have been added in late '59 or '60 and maybe went away at the 462? That's why I'm asking. I wouldn't think the mounting was different or, was it. Did it not fit the FE because of the FE's oil pan?

The compound part, is a vacuum pump, that's why I'm interested in it.

With that knowledge already known, then it would take some kind of modifications to get the vacuum lines part of the pump outside the pan.

Also, unless it is an FE 427, the oil hole under the pump in the block is only 3/8" in diameter and needs to be made larger all the way to the filter pad.
