Chinese look a like Little-M block
We have one in shop right now and have looked it over and checked it for brinnel test and it seems to be a very soft block as it tested in the low 140's
To give you an idea a 010 block is around 180ish and SHP block tested mid 190's and the Little-M and Big-M are mid 230's because of the nickel content.
It lools like the block is finished honed and I have not probed it out for locations for deck heights, cylinder bore loctaions, lifter bore locations ETC.
Looks like once the cylinders were honed they decked the blocka nd left a burr at the top of the cylinder as there is a zero chamfer on the tops of the cylinders.
The lifter bores have a huge ridge at the top and on the bottom of the bores I would assume from machining the soft cast iron.
With that soft of bore it would wear the cylinders out in a short time as well as the lifter bores.
The rear main cap is not even flat where the pump sets on and they have welded what it looks like a insert where the threads are.
I will post pics later on and what we find for demensions in another thead.
For right now it does not look like a very high end peice and is surely a copy cat of the Dart Little-M block
I beleive PBM is selling them with their name on them!!

Surely it was not a PBM deal. I just looked over a PBM block last week and it appeared to be a nice looking piece. It had billet caps that had PBM milled on them and all ARP studs. I was positively told they were cast in New Zealand, because I questioned whether it was a Chnese casting and was assured they were not.
That's about all I know... hope I was told the facts. Bret

I seriously doubt the block you have is cast by Toowoomba Metal Technologies as those casting are high quality. Toowoomba Metal Technologies currently does NOT list engine blocks a product.

Maybe a question to the person who wished to obtain your services will be able to answer a question or 2?
How much money would a company save on a production of engine blocks with a low Nickel content giving a lower than std. hardness / opposed to a block with a high Nickel content giving a higher hardness.
Sounds like the last Chroming company i got to do my bumper bars.

From what I can research, PBM and Pro Comp blocks are different.
One is a $1000 chinese block and the other is $2155. New Zealand casting
PRO COMP is chinese and cost around $1000.

Does anyone have a pbm block that can have it Rockwell tested to see if it does have a high brinnel figure. Not have them side by side but the only difference I can see is the Chinese one has a black coating and the pro comp has a screen bolts and engraved caps. Have seen the Chinese block and it is not even as good as a 010 block in fact a 400 block is better( hard to believe I know) The Chinese block we have at our shop and the one picture posted here has the oil pump threaded hole welded if you look close and its done after the black oxide cause the heat from welding tarnishes the black finish. I wonder what the boys at dart think of this. The Chinese one is a definite copy of theirs to a T. CNC: when are you going to have more information on this: locations,and dimensions.
