515 BBC Build/Straub/Foxwell
I just assembled a 4.530 X 4.00 BBC, 13.2 compression, 315 AFR heads by Scott Foxwell, Victor intake done by Scott as well, Straub hyd roller, 262 @ .050, .740 lift, Canton oil pan, 1050 dominator carb, vacuum pump. I've never built a engine like this before, what kind of power could I expect and where would the power peak occur?

I'll be the first to make an estimate. 770-800 HP @ 6200 to 6800 RPM 630-660 LBS @ 5500 to 5800 RPM
Re: 515 BBC Build/Straub/Foxwell
From what I see it's a 502 deal with some excellent aftermarket pieces. It's under valved, and your going to have to wind it up to hit 800 HP. I don't think that's going to happen. The 315 Head is excellent but small for this inch motor. Nice Friday night deal though. AFR heads come with great components so it may go 7000+. That's a lot of heavy metal slinging around and a heavy valve train. Good luck, have fun.

Exceptional truck engine. Street burn the tire type deal. Show car "I make 700 HP" build.
Re: 515 BBC Build/Straub/Foxwell
This same engine originally built by Scott Foxwell 4.500 x 4.00 was a 509 with 11.4 compression, ported 305 AFR heads, a ported Victor Jr and a 4150 carb, a Straub 242 @ .050 hyd roller, was tested at Vibrancic's dyno and delivered 764 HP @ 6200 RPM with 730TQ. The interesting part of this is the engine was owned and run by Crazy Davey in his 3520 pound small tire NA Chevelle, which ran a best of 9.40 @ 141 MPH. After 300 plus runs the 509 was sent to my shop for the updates, but if you know me, you know the the engine went on my dyno before the tear down happened. The results were 744 HP with 689 TQ. The Foxwell ported 305 AFR heads flowed in the 390 CFM range @ 28 inches. The reason I posted this thread is: there should be some excellent data here backed up with drag strip testing for those that are interested in this type of stuff. So the new combination: 4.530 X 4.00, gas ported, 13.2 compression, 262 @ .050 hyd roller, 109 LS, .740 lift, 400 CFM ported 315 AFR heads, ported Victor intake, dominator flange, 1050 carb, oil pan modifications, these are the basic modifications to the original 509 set up,this will be dyno tested, then tested in the car.

Re: 515 BBC Build/Straub/Foxwell
Bigger bore.. more compression.. 20* more cam.. heads flow a bit more.. ported Vic and a bigger carb.. If it don't pick up 120HP from the first go round, I would be disappointed.. will stick with my 840HP guess.. will it pull a sub 9/150? I'm betting on it being an over achiever..

Did this engine get on the dyno?
I expect it should be very good.
