TALL BALL JOINTS
I was wondering if there is any advantage to using a tall ball joints on a GM A body (Chevelle). Also are the alignment specs different when using a tall ball joint? Thanks

We use them in drag racing to prevent radical camber changes during suspension travel.shiftbyear wrote: ↑Fri Jul 27, 2018 5:40 am I was wondering if there is any advantage to using a tall ball joints on a GM A body (Chevelle). Re: TALL BALL JOINTS
I had 0.9" taller upper BJs in my GTO. Street car, no noticeable difference except for a lighter wallet.....
Plus, the brand I used had an ill fitting grease boot that did not cover the bJ & allowed dirt to get in.
Bear in mind that if the car has been lowered, it will probably negate any benefit from a taller upper BJ.

Lowered with springs or lowered with spindles?Geoff2 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 01, 2018 5:10 am I had 0.9" taller upper BJs in my GTO. Street car, no noticeable difference except for a lighter wallet.....

Re: TALL BALL JOINTS
I have a pair of, "Pro-Motorsports", 1-15/16" tall spindle extenders on my lowered '67 Camaro.
Some say that they raise my car's front roll center too much such that it might raise one wheel off the ground in an extremely sharp turn.
I really want 1-1/2" taller stock type forged spindles but nobody makes them. They only make taller, but 2" dropped type and I don't want dropped spindles.
There is an aluminum spindle out there though, but a pair of them are expensive!! They are taller, but not dropped..

Re: TALL BALL JOINTS
Thanks for clearing that up. I may or may not lower mine with spindles. I'm gonna have to wait till the car is actually done ,which will be a while yet. If I remember correctly( back to 97) mine sat just right with the top of the tire just inside the lip of the fender. My Nova has been apart since 97.

Tall ball joints are used on dirt cars to fine tune the front suspension.

Re: TALL BALL JOINTS
Maybe just for the early A/F//X cars, 2" dropped forged spindles can cause the tie-rod end to end up inside the inner rim roll. And sometimes, it doesn't fit...
Might contact somebody like SC&C and ask them.. http://scandc.com/new/
