Based on my email Email with Mr. Godbold thats the plan. What stage is that cam exactly? I am thinking PSI DR 427 RML springs with installed height set at 1.875-1.900. Your not doing anything new in engine building. Its been done before, other people have built ls7's before. I wouldn't actually even build a "real" engine. And certainly don't dyno, you can find the results of other people stuff online and use that.

Yes, the only experience I've had with an E38 was a little exposure to a retune of GMHP crate LS3 that had a cam and intake change on a Dyno setup.
Yep, with that overlap you will be lucky to get it to idle at 1200rpms.
You might already know that Marcella makes a billet intake that might fit but at about $3500 might blow up your project budget.
Could you idle this thing only in closed loop at all with about 16 to 1 or so AFR's on a E38 reading O2's?
Have you considered staged dual injectors instead of a single high lbs per hour single set? Not sure an E38 can even do that.

I just ordered the PSI springs (pn DR 427 RML) from Joe Hornick Enterprises. I am going to end up using Comp Lightweight Tool steel retainers. Hornick gets 23 dollars a retainer for the ones they make in house. A whole set of lightweight tool steel from comp that should work is 157.99 from jegs. Part number 1754-16 if anyone else runs into this. Any thoughts on the cam. The lobes CGT mentioned are

Know you still building and not into tuning yet but if this aide is helpful you might find some help with idle. If you already know all this forget I mentioned it for you. Just trying to give you some places you might find some help with the E38 tuning issues and educating myself also.

I like to base the Cam on head and Intake flow. Start off with a Rpm range and pick lift based on how well both sides flow. Then compare the intake and exhaust ratio to come up with split. You can't know how much help the exhaust needs till after porting.

None of those parts will run correctly with your current hood. I hate to be the person to break it to you. You are hood limited and your goals are bound by your hood design. Maybe reconsider using some parts that are more hood compatible.
Also have you desktop dynoed your build yet? You might see what others have specced. You aren't doing anything new or original most likely. Good luck

My thought is I realize you want that Corvette of yours back on the road and charging around and I would assume you have backup transportation to and from work and such?
However, haste can make waste and stabilizing your economic situation and protecting and stabilizing your job and job environment is critical
So my suggestion is to take more time with all aspects of this build and make sure it will go together and become useable and functional without to much money and time being exhausted.
I will share my laws of success with projects like this!
