Royal purple hp oil

Do you all know if royal purple high performance synthetic oil is good enough to run in 15-1 8000 rpm motor that is drag raced,it’s kind of hard to tell if there xp oil is any different than the HP oil.Anyone use it?

I used royal purple in a 7000 rpm BBC for awhile and found it turned brown right away. Not sure why and if it was a problem or not but i didn't like it. I switched to amsoil racing oil and haven't looked back. Sorry thats not scientific in the least. Just my experience.

Have any royal purple users notice upon disassembly that metal parts especially cam and lifters have a bright mirror like polished finish to it

Royal Purple will often turn brown on the first fill because it is highly solvent and cleans carbon, varnish and other residues left by previous oils. I have seen wear-metals increase sharply on the first change to RP then reduce to lower levels than previous on subsequent oil changes. Same reason - wear metals contained in the carbon, sludge and varnish deposits.

"Micro-polishing" is one of the RP claims. When the EP additives are called upon (as in cam/lifter) the asperities flow and polish, rather than welding and tearing off.

I can say DO NOT use royal purple HPS on a flat tappet cam...
I just inspected a sbc flat tappet after a few races and test sessions and half the lobes have pitted flat noses

This bottle of HPS also lab tested to have low levels of zinc and phosphorus (Zn 1037ppm. P 843ppm)
Also after engine not run for 3 months the cam looked almost dry as if oil had evaporated from lobes

This cam and lifters did its first season on brad penn 40w and looked like new it then did half a season on Penrite synthetic racing oil and still looked almost like new
