As long as we're on the subject, does anyone make a 9" long valve? That's on my future project list in about a year.

Dare we ask what the 9" long valve is for?
Can I assume it's for something that will never spin more then 4000 rpm , or for a hell of a raised port prototype head?

The real question is what engine are they for???.
Std or +.100 is common in most every HP style engine heads but the OAL is needed.

There is a slim chance you will find anything in stainless without it being a custom order.
I say this because we do it all the time to touch up heads with extensive port mods and valve seats max'd where a new or replacement guide is not possible to do :D

Joe,
Most high performance valve manufacturers are able to produce custom valves that are close to the dimensions of their current offerings. However a very "oddball" valve (such as your 9" unit) may require that you purchase a production run, involving a relatively high quantity, in order to cover tooling and engineering costs. Contact several sources for info.

Could be that a valve manufacturer may have a valve in their line for large Diesel or stationary engine application that could be modified to fit your request . . . . . .

I contacted a number of company's, but none want to make a 9" valve. I'll have to offer more $$$.

Ferriea has done some blank 7 1/2 long stem valves but have to cut the keeper groove yourself.

If its in their size range I would think it will be no big deal for a blank.
Unless you find a shop with a CNC to cut a valve to your spec's from bar stock. But the number of valves required for
your project will determine if its worth it or not design and have them made locally.

I assume you’re talking about .003 larger diameter stems.

I have never seen that offered in a performance type valve.

Time for new guides.
Somewhat handy with a die grinder.

Did you look through the SI catalog? They have all kinds of oddball stuff, and will make you anything you want. Many 0.003" OS stems in SS.

The longest blank that I saw in their catalog was 8.00" though. Dunno if that helps.
