4 Speed Throttle

Post by speedtalk »

Saw this yesterday on a 4 speed Mustang

Image

Helps the driver find the right starting line rpm. Seems like a 2 step would be less complicated.

The funny thing is that TAFC and TAD are both using something simple on the throttle linkage to help with staging RPM now. Maybe this guy was just ahead of his time.

I was trying to find out how to share a video from the “inside top alcohol” Facebook page where it shows Dan Pomponino explain their staging linkage. Alas I am to stupid to figure out how to get it over here. Yes if using the msd mags you can use them as a two step even on a top alky car, but to keep temps more even across the engine they prefer not to. I think it is not legal, but it is not easy to try and police.

Thanks Kevin. I have also seen in the TAFC ranks a dual return spring setup where a secondary spring tarts its tension at he desired RPM, then when you mash the throttle your foot overcomes the tension of both the return springs. I am guessing that is what that upper picture is trying to do. It just looks like that picture at the top is doing that with the cheapest parts purchased at Home Depot.

I am still blown away that we pulled this thread out of the deep dust of the speedtalk archives.
