Sharing results from my first engine build.

Post by splitdecision71 »

Just though Id share my results. I have never dynoed the engine so not sure what it makes.

1964 Chevy II Back halved with ladder bar set up running 29.5x10.5x15 Hoosiers 5.86 gears. Car weighs 2845lbs with me in it at race weight.
14.6 to 1 compression 421 SBC with Brodix 11x heads max ported to fel pro 1209 gaskets. 64 cc chambers 2.10/1.625 int/exhaust valves. Jesel shaft mounted 1.7 intake rockers 1.65 exhaust rockers. 1 7/8 primaries on the headers. Port matched Super victor with 3 circuit 1050 dominator. Powerglide with a transbrake getting 5500 rpm on the launch. No power adders. New personal best this weekend at Xtreme Raceway Park. Track prep was amazing.

1.3788 60 ft
4.0188 330 ft
6.2575 660 ft
109.46 mph.
Density Altitude 1140
Tried up loading time slip and video but not sure how to do that. LOL.

Are these decent numbers for my combination? Anyone?

You are in the 580-600 hp range. This is assuming you are close to a good tune up. I will say that you are running way more rear gear than you need with that weight and tire height. For just starting out you need to know that you have a lot more potential and just need to work in small increments to better numbers. Patience, there is a lot more racing left this season.

That would be flywheel numbers but a good starting point. I edited my first post.

Ok thank you for the advice. I have slowly been picking away at it. First time out with this motor was 6.41 @ 106 in really good air so it seems Im going in the right direction. As far as gearing Im 1/8th mile only and Im crossing right at 7500. I shift at 7500 but I can twist it 8000 pretty easy. Built it mainly for index racing and its very consistent even on the small tires. I pulled 31x13x15 off for an event this last weekend that required the small tires.
