I don't have a deadline, but I'm not far off from being finished really. Sounds like you've been busy on yours. What valve job did you end up with on yours?202ci EH wrote: ↑Mon Jun 10, 2019 12:17 am Still plodding along? Have you got a deadline?
Finally finished my heads/intake (yes it does exist!)
Happy enough with how they turned out, intake gets a little choppy after .700 lift, like when the valve comes out of the chamber. Exhaust is quiet!
2.7 MCSA intake, 1.44" MCSA ex.
3.6" at the runner opening on the center runners and 3.8" outside. Manifold drops the flow #'s 2-7 cfm
Photos too big to host here, let me know if the link is no good.

LS3 Carbed build

Re: LS3 Carbed build
Cool no rush then.
I would have done a 50* seat but It's a streetcar, that and the ls3 hollows are too thin to get a seat.
37°-45°-63°-75° intake and just a 37°-45°-radius exhaust.
Cheers steve, Yep that's my work. Try to do as much myself as possible.

Well, it is no rush. But I've been working on it a lot. And its starting to add up. I would say I'll have it wrapped up in the next week or two. BTW, my heads get noisy through that area as well.
Re: LS3 Carbed build
Mine neither, though its hard to hold the intake on in alignment with the intake boly arrangement.

Zach Nelson winner of the EMC with the NOS ls is putting together, my 408 with Chris Frank factory ported Ls3 heads shooting for as much compression as we can get with milled heads and JE asymmetric flat tops 13.2+ & e85. Looking 4 a number with a street engine.

I will most likely wait until summer passes, but I'm not positive. I think their is going to be a lot to learn from this one...…
I am running the Daytona Sensors ignition and harness. The harness is undergoing some alterations by a friend currently. 202..how's your project coming along?

That thing is so cool!
Interesting build for sure I think it will do good.

Did you stay Hyd Roller?
Have you found the need to make any changes from your original goal?

Re: LS3 Carbed build
Neat looking package CGT Tall covers... Did you end up using a roller tipped rocker to get some more lift? Might have missed it, are you using generic Delphi/Delco/Elgin ls7 lifters?
Mine is finished up like yours, should be in the car running & driving in october. I'm having trouble fathoming $1100 for a basic 4500 throttle body though.

Re: LS3 Carbed build
No. Stock rockers with Smith Bros. trunnion bushing kit. I ended up having my cam reground,,slower intake lobe and changed the exhaust lobe some as well. It is now 262-276 111 .680 .660.
Yeah stock Delco lifters, travel limited somewhat.
As someone that plays with old engines and newer stuff the prices of some things for the newer stuff is just ridiculous. The people that just began playing with engines with the newer stuff like LS, coyote ect...don't seem to see how outrageous some of the stuff is. They have no reference point from playing with old small and big Chevies and Fords. They tend to not blink an eye.
There is a LS or metric tax on some of these parts lol....although to be fair some of it is pretty affordable as well. ARP comes to mind. In my opinion they are flat out price gouging on some of their fasteners for the late model engines. How is a head stud kit for a SBC 125.00 but head stud kits for a LS start out at 425.00. 34 bolts in the SBC kit, 30 in the LS kit and 10 of those 30 are barely even bolts lol. I have let ARP know my feelings on this.
You decide not to dyno?
Re: LS3 Carbed build
Got redirected here from a link someone posted elsewhere on here////OP,,,,,do you have a goal you are trying to reach for this engine? or did I miss that
Re: LS3 Carbed build
I have no concrete goals at all really. I will just dyno it, try to learn from that, make changes, dyno. Its just unfortunately what you have to do when you don't already know everything .
I have a feeling I'm going to be up against some hydraulic lifter limits initially. But If I keep at it I could ultimately see 2hp/ci coming out of it down the road. That will require a solid roller and some development.
Re: LS3 Carbed build
Believe i seen a 416 stroked ls3 with ported ls3 heads make 812 hp with cid intake. Solid roller 7800 rpmRowdy Yates wrote: ↑Sat Jun 15, 2019 4:44 am Zach Nelson winner of the EMC with the NOS ls is putting together, my 408 with Chris Frank factory ported Ls3 heads shooting for as much compression as we can get with milled heads and JE asymmetric flat tops 13.2+ & e85.
