Need opinions

Post by Sbc4life »

I’m currently building a 383 stroker in a 91 Chevy truck. Wanting to put Vortec heads on it with roller rockers.
Running a Lunati bootlegger cam. Not sure on lift and duration it was my cousins and he doesn’t have the specs.
Has a holly DP 650. I’ll be using a th350 trans with 3.73 or 4.11 gears. Would anyone think this setup would put rims 2017 Silverado with a tuned 6.2? Thanks guys

I would be Leary of running a used Cam unless you have heard the motor it came out from run and confirming all was quite and good!

Yea it was a brand new cam he actually installed it a while back. The motor actually runs but I’m changing a few things that he did and didn’t do. Like he went back with the factory heads for some reason. That’s why I wanted to rebuild a set of vortec heads for it and I also need to put headers on it as well

I guess you could say I’m building the top end. The bottom end is eagle crank and rods hyperputic pistons I believe

What type of cam? Flat tap or roller? If roller gonna use factory lifters? Awhile back I was considering one of those rollers but wanted to use factory lifters and think it was too much lift or something idk. I would think the cam has some part number on it.

The Cam needs for a pickup truck especially a 4 wheel drive one with all its added power losses is a much different thing then one for a 3800 lb car,and changing out the Cam in a truck leaning over tall fenders is not much fun so I would try my damedest to find out the spec's on that Cam and change it if need be before the motor is in the truck.

It’s a hydraulic flat tappit cam. I’ll be putting a brand new set of roller rockers in. The heads still have the factory rocker arms. I know the cam is a 500 something lift. Might be to much for this setup
