what i have been doing during isolation

Post by prairiehotrodder »

Isolation is actually fairly normal to me. We already home school our children and run a home based business. I pulled my race car into the shop a week ago and built a light weight rad support that takes about 14 - 15 pounds off the front. It also moves the rad forward about 1 inch which gives me more room to work on the motor and have clearance for my electric fans. I'm real happy with it so far. I also built a better mount and bolted on the aluminum trans cooler you see.

Now i just have to build stand-offs for my hood pins.

I also took the time to put my new comp cams roller rockers on and get my engine running after a long winter. I take the rockers off every winter to help conserve the valve springs. I also re-jetted the carbs back down because i had richened them 2 jet sizes last fall but it didn't seem to help.

Also if anyone is interested in the laser cut alternator bracket that i sell, there is a picture of it modified for use with an electric water pump.

another thing i have been doing is getting rid of every single self-tapping screw on my car. I have come to the conclusion that self-tapping screws do not belong on a race car for any reason. They always come loose and will eventually fall out. Not a good thing to be falling on a race track !!! It should be an NHRA rule.

good to see some ingenuity !! Anyone else have a cool project they want to show off ?

The plague has caused a boom in some industries and a bust in others. I've been selling parts quite well. People have the time, they are bored, gas is cheap, and they aren't spending money on lots of other entertainment.
