From the locked, "Designing Racing Engine Update", thread.

It is a shame that Mr. Fueling passed so early. He was really into multi-valve head designs. I think he was into a couple of legal battles with Ford and M/B? Patent infringement sort of deals??

His figure-8 chambered BBC work truck torque head was a marvel to me.

Why were you looking at all the engines in your long list??

From the locked Thread - Seem to apply here as well.
This is the "Advanced Engine Tech" forum.
There's nothing advanced, or technical in your post.
If you have an advanced technical question, ask it in a new topic.

Imho, "His figure-8 chambered BBC work truck torque head", is technically advanced.

And not trying to stir the pot here.

But your post was not.

F1 cars are technically advanced, but "What's your favorite colored F1 car" is not.

I can't think of any modern engines that adopted the super closed chamber or valve actuation.

What was he doing with this?

Jim Fueling believed that 3-valve heads were the ultimate design for performance engines for various reasons and used them on his Oldsmobile Aerotech engine. He claimed to have developed the design before Mercedes and Ford and that they duplicated his ideas. His lawsuit was settled but I'll leave it to the OP to do the detailed research.

1200+ horsepower from a Quad 4 is impressive.

Seems like whoever is running the company now emphasizes HD motorcycle parts.

Sidebar: we have the 1200 HP Feuling Quad 4 in our shop at the moment, the one out of the Feuling Streamliner that set the records. Looking to sell it if anyone’s interested.

Thanks Chris for posting the link.

I tried for some time to find the truck head pictures with not much success is why I backed off doing another search about him.

Yes, but it doesn't appear they sell the Fueling 4 valve heads..

The Quad-4 Aerotech engine, was a 4 valve. I ground the cams for it

If it's the engine that set the closed course record, the cam specs should be 276/268 @.050", and .564"/.484" Lobe Lift.

We did a lot of work for Jim Fueling over the years. Besides consulting, and designing the cams for the Aerotech project, Jim had my dad oversee the build of one of the Aerotech engines. We no longer had the engine shop, so my dad ran the project out of Keith Black's shop.
Jim had a lot of ideas, and the desire to test them. He came to us, with an idea to open the valve for just a couple of degrees at a certain place on the base circle, to add another pulse. He thought it would increase power. After testing, all it did was make a 4 cylinder engine sound like an 8 cylinder engine. There were no performance gains. Jim still patented it, and tried to sell it.
