2015 TM MX 125 engine in a 125 cm^3 kart

Post by ptuomov »

Anyone know anything about these two-stroke engines? Any information and tips, including detailed specs, service/repair manuals etc. would be greatly appreciated.

Have you checked their downloads, or sent an email asking for info? Best place to start, I'd think.

I'm not sure where you're located, but parts for a tm are going to be hard to find in the US. Your best bet will be to find some forums/facebook groups for European MX bikes and karts powered by them.

WRONG.

tmracing-usa.com.

Ask for Ralf, but he usually answers the phone anyway. He have virtually anything you want right here in the country.

I can buy parts for 20-25 year old European bikes much easier than I can any jap bike.

It's rare even for Japanese bikes to find stuff in stock. Maybe levers or a bearing, but I've always had to order moat things, even when working at a dealer (clutch, powervalve parts, top ends, stator, reg/rec, suspension bits, etc).

Wear parts like clutches, pistons, gaskets, in my experiences are a lot easier to find, both locally and online. My euro brands, except for maybe the ktms, do a whole lot more sitting and waiting on parts.

Let’s see...I have a phone, the internet and the brown truck. Yep. I can get parts for just about any European bike I want. Easy. You can’t go to any bike shop and buy parts for a jap bike more than 5 years old.

Just because you can’t do something doesn’t mean the rest of us can’t.

I never said you couldn't order them online and wait months, missing half your season waiting on them. We were missing races waiting on parts for tm, sherco and beta last year, even before all of this Chinese virus stuff started. You should really be more honest with people about the parts availability. Try not to get so butthurt about it too.

Also, youre dead wrong about dealerships not stocking parts for jap bikes over 5 years old, I have no idea where you get that from. I might go in today and pick up some parts for my CRs just to prove that wrong.

To the op, you can field a tm and and have a good season, but you'll need to be making sure you order everything for the season way in advance.

Also worth mentioning that the manufacturer is located in Italy and has been shut down for most of 2020. I believe they just reopened a couple weeks ago.

LOL. I never wait for parts. Ever. Something wrong with YOU. I’m out. I have no time for fools.

Hand drilling main jets here... and loving it! ;)

Good to be on a vacation from the US coronavirus neurosis.

Here’s my emergency jet size measurement tool:
8D96D8A7-C17B-431A-B1A5-CC464696B46E.jpeg
Two huge surprises. The water bottle and iPhone stop watch were able to measure the unmolested jet diameter within +/-0.01mm. The unmolested 195 jet would come in 194-196. The second huge surprise was that the guy with the drill bits would drill a 155 jet to exactly 210 on the first try and then redneck hone it on the first try to 214 when 215 was the goal. Fun!

It depends

Probably a yz250 or drz400
Both bikes haven't changed much for a decade they keep a lot of stuff in stock and it works with the older models.
