8.0 ls destroked
Parts are a 4.8 crank sbc 6.0” rods mill the the heads and some cometics put me around 11.5:1 Bore the 6.0 to 4.060 piston ends up at 1.6065 if my math is correct an olds std bore 350 piston is 1.612 so that fits the bill 338”motor with 823’s should make for a nice hi rpm piece looking to make 600+ hp on a budget also I have all the parts block rods pistons rings heads what do guys think about this combo?

We think the same thing anyone asking about building a 283", 302", 327", 355", et al. So we're going to spend the same or more money to make less horsepower? Long experience has shown "nice hi rpm . . . 600+ horsepower" is the most expensive way to get there and stay there.rocketracer380 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 03, 2021 5:01 am Parts are a 4.8 crank sbc 6.0” rods mill the the heads and some cometics put me around 11.5:1 Bore the 6.0 to 4.060 piston ends up at 1.6065 if my math is correct an olds std bore 350 piston is 1.612 so that fits the bill 338”motor with 823’s should make for a nice hi rpm piece looking to make 600+ hp on a budget also I have all the parts block rods pistons rings heads what do guys think about this combo?
Your build, your budget, your decision.

i think you have a lot of time and a very large budget. why?rocketracer380 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 03, 2021 5:01 am Parts are a 4.8 crank sbc 6.0” rods mill the the heads and some cometics put me around 11.5:1 Bore the 6.0 to 4.060 piston ends up at 1.6065 if my math is correct an olds std bore 350 piston is 1.612 so that fits the bill 338”motor with 823’s should make for a nice hi rpm piece looking to make 600+ hp on a budget also I have all the parts block rods pistons rings heads what do guys think about this combo?
you will need some portwork for those 823's to make 600hp regardless of cubic inch. If you were really speaking on a budget, you would just port the 823's throw them on a 6.0, stick a high 240s@.050 cam with .650" lift and still buzz it.
Like packard said, your build your dollar.

Let's just play with some numbers and spit ball a little.
My 376 makes around 460 LbFt with a peak HP of 580 @ 6600
If a 338 makes the same LbFt/CI, then it would make around 413.5 LbFt at peak.
With 413.5 LbFt at peak HP, you would need the peak to be 7621 to reach 600 HP.
A 7600+ RPM LS is not a cheap endeavor likely requiring a significant investment is valvetrain $$$$$.
