SADI core hydraulic roller...which distributor gear?

Post by travis »

Some say cast iron, others say steel is ok, and several manufacturers push their poly distributor gears. I have no interest in the poly gears...so which material would be correct?

On the small block Ford combinations I do, we recommend the factory roller cam gear or the coated steel ones from Crane.

Never had an issue especially when coupled with a small oil spray hole drilled into the lifter bore core plug.

"Quality" is like buying oats. You can pay a fair price for it and get some good quality oats,
or you can get it a hell of a lot cheaper, when it's already been through the horse.

NOT ... plain cast iron.
Ductile iron nitrided gears are best for SADI ... or composite material.
Several companies offer them for different applications and have their own "brand" name for them.
