Opinions on my 383
Thank y’all so much for the help so far on all the questions I’ve head lately.
Freshly built 385. Promaxx maxx 200 cc heads, scorpion 1.5 roller rockers, flat top pistons, static compression 10.68:1, crower roller cam 236/240 at .050 with .555 lift and intake closing point at 44 degrees. Weiand street warrior dual plane with 1” carb spacer, link bar lifters, Edelbrock 750, MSD 6AL with blaster coil and a non vacuum advance distributor (gunna order one with vacuum advance), 1 5/8 long tube headers and a dual exhaust.
What, if anything, would y’all change on this build? I’m going to either sell the heads and buy some Chad Speier heads or send them to him to be ported. What do y’all think of the camshaft choice? Mostly a street driven/fun truck.

Mostly a street driven/fun truck.
Bolt it in, and tune it up it.
On the street add vacuum advance.

Any further details on that cam? I can't see how you get an IVC at 44°.

The induction system is where the power is
I know nothing about promax heads but you have them so get a competent head porter to do a nice valve job,set throat % to no more than 90%, reshape short turn as it will probably need work but it all depends what your expectations are. 500hp would not be impossible with the parts you have.a single plane intake will get you there easier eg - 300-25 is a nice intake.
IVC of 44 deg will be at 0.050"

Re: Opinions on my 383
The only thing i would do, is maybe change the intake to a single plane. otherwise i'd just start driving it. maybe next winter port the heads and run a bigger camshaft.
This thing should be making 450+hp as it sits.

True enough. But it's not really closed is it? I tend to work form seat to seat though as most of the software I dabble in uses seat duration.
I was thumbing through the Crower looking for more on that cam. I've got some interest in building a 383 (although it'll more likely be a 357).

i think the performer rpm air gap is a better manifold, and as its going in a truck, hood clearance shouldnt be an issue.

Re: Opinions on my 383
In my testing with a mild 383 that made 430-440 hp
The air gap was worth 2 tenths in the eighth mile
As cast victor jnr was worth nearly 2 mph at the big end.
This is in a my car @ 3650 pounds 11.7s @ 115mph

Thanks everyone for the opinions! No one has come out and called me an idiot an even more so, short of the intake manifold switch, no one has made a different suggestions. Sounds like I at least did a decent build. Those over 425 hp estimates make me feel good!
The intake closing point is just what I got off the crower website. I’m sure you’re right about it being at .050. What would that make it at the seat?
Part number for the cam is 00471s.

That cam has adv. durations of 286* in and 290* ex .and a 110* LSA with a 44* abdc@ .050 in valve timing it works out to 106* intake centerline which is 4* advanced . With that centerline and the 286 adv. duration you get 69* abdc intake close .Dan

I wouldn't touch the engine, if i wanted some more punch, I would put more gear in it. It looks to be a nice streetable combo.
