Last year my peanut port 461 BBC engine with the Single plane intake liked the 2" 4 hole tapered spacer the best. The RPM Performer like the 1" open spacer the best and hated the 4 hole spacer.

If Speedmaster has a sale like the past few years, then their spacers will be pretty cheap for Black Friday. Obviously not as nice as my HVH but one can easily spend hundreds on spacers to try out, I have LOL

I got a 1" and 2" tapered that seem to be flat and good enough for my use.

I know as much as I can learn and try to keep an open mind to anything!

If I didn't overthink stuff I wouldn't be on speedtalk!

If the speedmaster spacers are like their heads and intakes, the holes in the spacers will be all over the place. [-X

Verify after installation, I have come across spacers that I tossed in the trash due to misalignment.

When one spacer needs significantly more idle mixture (no other changes), what does that tell me?

Reduced atomization and distribution.

So, which way is the right way to use a tapered spacer on an intake? 4 holes down or up? Asking for a friend

Very interesting,
I want to try a reverse taper 2" spacer as well but didn't want to mention it as I have not heard or talked to anyone about it 🤔

My post around eight back answers that for at least one SBC. I'd like to hear details re any engine that made more power with the four holes down.

I ran it with the 4 holes up on my car and it picked up almost 2 tenths and 1 mph then the next week put the same spacer on the dual plane intake and promptly lost 2 more tenths after the baseline that day, buy the open 1" spacer was .003 better than the single plane and the 2" tapered spacer on the single plane intake. Kind of a wash if you ask me.
