oil squirters to rod/piston/crank clearance

Post by John@RED »

Hello, any advice about brass oil squirters being 0.04 away from piston and crankshaft counterweigh at BDC, and 0.04 away from rod leg at half stroke?
Can't really get it further away from crank, piston and rod, that's the half way from everything: is 0.04 enough in your experience? Thanks

If something in the rotating assy is flexing enough that .040” gets eaten up then you have a motor that’s going to come apart on you anyway!
You can cut a man's tongue from his mouth, but that does not mean he’s a liar, it just shows that you fear the truth he might speak about you!

Would depend how they're mounted, if they vibrate from getting belted senseless with oil firing off the rotating assembly they could break, if they're a solid fittings mounted in the block no problem of course.

Nah, I'm not leaving myself out of the ignorant brigade....at times.

My thoughts entirely

If he's missed the zero off and means 0.040" that's one thing, but if OP means 0.04 mm he's down to only 0.0016" (rounded)

He really needs to clarify to get any kind of meaningful answer

Not metric, imperial! :D
I know that nothing shouldn't flex so much, but oil squirters jet is long and slim, so quite worried
