If you guys are paying attention, you will notice the trans is a pile of junk, sliding gears. When my kid gets every thing right theres a 1.33 60 foot there, hopefully. This engine will not make more than 470 STP corrected HP on my dyno. And personally I don't think theres anything that "tricky" here, you have to remember I'am not in a 23xxx baro anymore, that always held the performance back, my shop truck is running mid to low 11s now as well depending how I run it.

What do you suppose your RPM band is. From the stall to the stripe? Even without actual numbers, do you have an approximation of the spread? Slippy transmission notwithstanding.

Mark , thanks for all the great Info you Posted in this Thread/Topic :D
This engine will not make more than 470 STP corrected HP on my dyno.
i did not nit-pick it :D
i calculated • Peak HP= 474.08 at 7200 RPM • at 660 Feet distance ( sorry , i forgot to change RPM from SS/IA engine )
or
• Peak HP= 474.08 at 6200 RPM • at 660 Feet distance ( it does not really need the RPM , i guessed at 6200 RPM ? )

Main Screen Inputs/Choices i entered
2nd Pic = 1320 Data results

Ignorance leads to confidence more often than knowledge does.
Nah, I'm not leaving myself out of the ignorant brigade....at times.

Does it?

If this 357 sbc was tested on an engine dyno you'd see the peak horsepower rpm point will be at or very near 6700 rpm.

Thanks for the great info, I thought it was around 470 HP, I was close. It would really be nice if you could run the numbers on that truck you had your hands on the heads!

1.56. 60
7.22. 330
93.15. MPH

3970 weight

I could have sworn it was going through around 7700 RPM 1320.

Any RPM reference to this?
I think it would be interesting to all to know the launch RPM, shift points and recovery RPMs.
If you're keeping secrets like a Super Stocker, that's perfectly understandable.
If you're just being an average guy on a Saturday night test and tune and care to reveal, I bet there's more than one of us that would like to know.

Just caught that after my latest post.
Thanks.
7700 eh?
Well that certainly sheds some light on it. I can imagine the rest of the pass would be zinging along similarly!

I posted the videos, theres no secrets here, you can watch the video, let me know where the shifts were, the trans is so bad I have no idea, the only driving my kids done is in this car at the track, we did it backwards, but he's doing good. I will always take you guys along when try or do something.

I couldn't ask for much more. Except maybe a datalogger!
Props to your kid.

Question on an aside.
Now that you've left the poor air of the higher altitudes and can get a little sea level action, as a S/S racer, aren't you DA compensated with respect to ET and MPH? I ask because I've gone the other way. I left the occasional day of "mine shaft" air only to race at 5000' DA. I correct to sea level for comparison purposes but get shot down by fellow racers who say " A time slip is what counts. Don't give me your corrected crap!".
Dynos are corrected. Sportsmen are corrected. Why not the test and tuner?
Just curious.

Funny how when the DV LSA formula is applied and adjusted for CR on this 357 cid sbc it works out very close to 106LSA. SOAB eh☺️

Someone tell me where the video is of the 7700 run. What I think I saw was the converter went about 5800 on the hit. The 1-2 shift was about 6400 and the rpm's did not drop. Pulled to about 6600 then the 2-3 shift, rpms dropped about 400, pulled the rest of the way through about 6700 and hit the chip about 6800 just before he lifted at the end of the run. Is this the same video everyone else is watching or am I missing the one you see?
