I had an old Crane Saturday Night Special flat tappet (.555/.578" 260/270 degrees @ .050' 106 lsa) in a street/strip 355 with Sportsman heads, Victor jr, 750 Holley, in a 69 Camaro back in the mid 90's that ran mid 11's on pump gas. I drove it daily during the summer months.

Re: 377 SBC build
Best advice I've ever been given is this.. don't get hung up on a hp number, especially if it's a street car. Drivability and great throttle response are far more important for a "relatively reliable fun car" advice I failed to listen to, then had to backtrack and spend more money dialing it in.Martin161 wrote: ↑Tue May 23, 2023 7:42 pmHQM383 wrote: ↑Tue May 23, 2023 7:39 pm I think the best advice comes when it is clearly defined what constitutes “Just looking to get the most out of this motor” as that is quite subjective. Five hundred hp has been mentioned but is this predominantly street driven or looking to attain an et time or a bit of both?
Sorry yes it is mostly street driven. And I’m really looking for it to be a relatively reliable fun car. And for the combo to be matched best as possible.

Just an update. The flo tex heads did make a big “seat of the pants” improvement over the 202 fuely double hump heads I had on it. Try to get some dyno time now. I’ll keep you guys posted.
Thanks again
