FE Ford lifter bank angle?
I'm looking for the lifter bank angle for a 390/427 Ford. I have it in my guide & seat machine now. I made an adapter for my guide level and it seems to be level to the deck. Just looking for confirmation...

Isn’t it parallel to the bore?
If I recall right off the top of my head the valve angle is like 14 or 15 degrees if that’s what you need.

This cut away clearly shows the lifter bore is parallel to the cylinder bore.

90-degrees from one lifter bore across the top of the block to the other lifter bore. Same as the cylinder bore.
Re: FE Ford lifter bank angle?
The valve angle is 13°. Seems Ford was way ahead of it's time when you look at how all the after mkt mfg has dropped their valve angle.

Oldsmobile engines must make fabulous horsepower. They've got a 7-degree valve angle.

Maybe so in some ways, but Fords use of the big port 4 bbl Cleveland heads on a 302 cid motor was in my opinion purely to dupe a uneducated buyer and get inventory off the shelves.
There use of a 60” air flow test pressure ( good for flat out racing) lead them to this motor who’s power band port area wise started at 5000 rpm which was right where the cam it was fitted with was starting to sign off.

Ford and Chevy had opposite engines producing the "same" horsepower.mag2555 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 16, 2024 6:53 am Fords use of the big port 4 bbl Cleveland heads on a 302 cid motor was in my opinion purely to dupe a uneducated buyer and get inventory off the shelves.

Ford Boss 302 had a mild cam, and wild heads.
Chevy Z/28 302 had a wild cam, and mild heads.
Both made "290" hp. (As did the 340 6bbl from Mopar.)
