Wrist pin bushings

Post by frnkeore »

I have a set of bushed SBF rods. The Ford pin bushing are .9805 OD and I want to open them up to .927 for SBC pistons w/floating pins. That will give a wall thickness of .0267. My other option would be to press fit the pins in the bushings.

Looking at bushings, the only thing I can find with close to that thickness, is the old Desoto 325 engine, with .976 od bushing and a .922 pin with a .027 wall.

What are your thoughts or experiences?

I would hone the small end of the rods to accept a Chevrolet size bushing. Provided it doesn't make the rod too thin.
