Question about a Fowler valve seat run out gage

Post by Ron Miller »

Any body use the Fowler valve seat run out gage part number 72-644-200 for Sioux pilots ? I have one and the I.D. is .0028 to big for my Sioux pilots. How can this run out gage be called a High Precision gage when you have that much slop. Has any one out their encounter the problem and how did you fix it. Now for the record I did call Fowler about my concern, sent the gage in and talk to three different people. My last conversazione with them was, they were going to look at a correction for me. Guess what No return phone calls. They sent my gage back with a statement saying,,,,, WE are unable to modify nor do we offer a gage for the application you are requiring. Return to Customer "As Is". So what would you Guys do,, just venting a little.

^^^^^ I asked Fowler this question and I did not get a answer. I asked if the collar was heat treated and never got a return call. ^^^^^

That was my first choice.

According to fowlers specs, the Id should not exceed .3860. If its larger than that fowler needs to make good. I have one I can measure ID if needed.

donc,
If you have the time, I would like to have your I.D. measurements. I'm not giving up on this so easy.

Mike,

I have Brand New pilot's. They measure .3844 to .3845. The I.D. in the Fowler gage is .3872. Any body know if the pilot body is heat treated.

Thanks Again for all the replies.

Ron,

Know i don,t know that. Since Fowler won,t help out it sounds like you will have to sleeve it like others have said.
