Looks to have a windage issue - you’re down 10 psi as the rpm climbs. I’m not familiar enough to say if it’s correctable on the long stroke small block, but it can’t be good.

What’s the bottom end and pan consist of? Any oil restrictors? Are the drains on these heads wide open?

Edit: a kick out style pan might help.

Do you plan on running a vacuum pump?
From what I have seen that is a pretty narrow range and could depend on the number of pulls and the oil. If it is break-in oil and pull 7 that would be a supprisingly good result.

Ran the car on Sunday at Atco Yesteryear Drags. It was losing traction after the hit, knocking the car out of the groove. 60' and ET were way off the mark. I need to get a camera on the suspension. The only change since running at Island was a carb swap with the XP850. Corrected mph is 133.343 on this run...

Rat Pack 1 was two cars in front of me in the same lane. It obviously wasn't a track issue...

To the OP,

Keep an eye on the drop base filters systems, once I chassis dynoed a mild 358 SBC with a drop-base 3" tall x 14" OD paper element air filter and it was 23 WHP LOSS compared to no filter. Eye opener.

BTW, have you noticed any ET or MPH change with the hood on?

No argument here. My only other option is cutting a hole in the hood.

So far the quickest/fastest pass has been with the hood on.

I understand that there can be issues with the filter case lid getting to close to the choke horn and that this can cause problems.
Apparently, the shape of the base and lid has an effect as well.

Your torque works out at 1.412 lbs/ft per cube which is good for an 11/1 CR.
What length collectors are you running on your headeers. I would think you need something in the 12 inch range.

Getting cold air from the outside would be nice, probably worth some ET.

I'd spect a big change in MPH with the hood on. Aero drag is a big factor at the big end.

Good luck, keep us posted!

Hello there. Welcome back.

The headers have 1.875" x 29" primaries, 3.5" x 10" collectors, and 3.5" x 12" slip-on collector extensions w/turndowns.

Yer 3" is a low filter for a drop base, 4" may have fixed it.

Probably would help, but wouldn't fit under the hood, unfortunatelly.
