Total engine airflow heads?
Anyone used tea for sbc heads? I know their ls and sbf heads are considered top notch.
Looking at the 23* 230cc head the published mid lifts are crazy good.

I have used them. They CNC port the 215's. They even made the chamber a little bigger at my request to fine tune the compression.
I was surprised the flow sheet they sent with the finished heads was even better than the advertised specs.

I ran their sbf heads way back in the day. I believe tooley had something to do with them back then I could be mistaken though. I wouldn’t think they could be too bad as good as their other stuff is.

No disrespect but that is not impressive for that size head and bore flowed on.Ex side is weak.220 head shows way better ex side.We have set of trick flow 220s angle milled /ported and 2.100 valve.We are similar below .400 but 12-17 cfm better everywhere above that.We put ex port plates on and moved port up and over and did 270s on ex side.It is ran on e93 so we wanted good ex port in it.I believe our heads are 236 cc now.We have single carb tunnel ram and our .550 to .700 numbers are very similar to tea through manifold.I would say they did a very conservative port.jmo

Looking at the flow test charts it is interesting thst the big flow is concentrated in the street/strip friendly valve lift zone. .400" to.550/.600" area. As opposed to some other racing heads where the flow is way up at very high valve lifts .,600"-.700" +.
On these the port works where the valves are going to be opening up to on a street oriented engine.
Right where it needs to be.
Should work well.

Yes I agree to some extent.If you are doing a ported 230 cc head on 4.125 bore fixture you are looking for more than street friendly heads.The stuff we consider street here is full effort in each part we purchase.I look heavy at .450 to .600 numbers when I do my own heads.Thats how I pick my cams from those numbers.But if I'm doing a 230ish cc head and have 305 cfm or 319 cfm at at .500 lift for say ,I want the bigger number always in our stuff.I like to see my numbers carry well past .700 also so my deal doesn't fall on its face and carry past intended rpm peak.This is jmo but ..F-BIRD'88 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 24, 2022 11:25 am Looking at the flow test charts it is interesting thst the big flow is concentrated in the street/strip friendly valve lift zone. .400" to.550/.600" area. I found the printout for the TEA heads 230cc they ported for me years ago. I consider them street strip 4.125 bore with 1 3/4-1 7/8 step header

I will go ahead and kick someone in the nuts. I do not believe it flow close to 270s at .400 on my bench. It’s very unbelievably. On either of my benches there have only been three 23 sbc heads that have hit 270cfm at .400. Two of them were raised runner the other was huge. I have flowed many heads from many manufacturers it’s just doesn’t happen. I’m sure some day it will come in and I can share real numbers.

Hey Eric, what do the AFR 235 SBC Eliminator heads flow @.4 on your bench? They advertise them at 270 cfm.
What make and model bench does AFR use? What bench does TEA use? Do you think they are using the same make and model Flow bench?

Advertised/published flow numbers are almost always highly optimistic... If you look at advertised Chinese numbers, they are downright blatant lies. lol

That’s why I asked here, figuring someone has actually flowed their heads. It seemed like a high number to me, but I also didn’t see them pumping it 20cfm either. I’m going to eat some crow here but I got a set of trick flow 230cc Cnc ported heads in and this is what they did on the Saenz d680

So no 271cfm but I flowed it on the superflow 750 and it went 269cfm@.400 324cfm at .9
Really strong at .4-.5 after that meh. I would really like to test this head on the dyno mule or the idea of more low lift flow makes more power than peak flow. I think there is a balance but where does it switch.
