Here's where I get tricky/creative.

I measured up a victor ram, it was too big.

So we got hold of a holley oval port street ram.
I hacked on it pretty good.
I got 4.3^" at the runner entry, 3.5^" at the manifold face & a nice consistent taper.
Then I slotted the crap out the bolt holes & lifted the manifold up on the head - on the motor I'll use .120" or thicker gaskets to lift it up.

I'm gonna trick the motor into thinking it has smaller csa raised runner heads.

Flow sheet is with manifold raised 5/16"

Graph is bare head vs raised 1/8" vs raised 5/16".

With it raised to just about line up with the roof of the port in the head it drops SFA flow over the bare head, is dead stable & a lot faster than mcsa on bare head.

Excuse the kinda rough grinding, it's 8pm here & I just wanted to confirm my idea was gonna work before I go home lol.

The finished thing will be much tidier!

Cool project. But i'd be shocked if it didn't make at least 800. I think 6400 is on the low side too. I'd think 6800 ish for peak power. Possibly higher. Are those the heads that start at 345cc? Just saw 335. I've used a few sets of those heads, one set on a pretty decent 555, without a crazy amount of porting either, made 970 wih them, and it peaked well above 7000. Obviously it had a lot more camshaft, but a single carb on a Super Victor 4500 and a 1450 quick Fuel dominator on Q.

Yeah, after some time on the flow bench I agree, peak around 6700-6800.
I was just saying to the owner last night that I reckon these heads could go 900+ with a bit more work & more cubes.
The metal in them is nice, seats cut well, minimal core shift etc - great heads for the $.

I ended up making 3/8" thick spacer plates to raise the manifold up on the heads, came out good, manifold roof & port roof now line up near perfect.
Now I just gotta port it all, only done the 1 cylinder to find my game plan.

Hiya,
I like what you have done so far. For me, my first thought is still not enough cross section in the port and eventual entry with the manifold. This might be your gift for your "lower" rpm wanted. I'm excited to see where you end up. Plenty of times I have seen the heads "run out" of port because of volume restriction when people worry about velocity.
Cheers Bro, I always like your builds :)

Carl is the deal going to run out of prop at 5500?

That is my question.

Hiya Adam,
Shoot, miss your posts and pics of your car.
It's hard to tell from here how his prop and hull will react. Seems like a pretty good combo for what he is doing. The dyno will tell more, and then the lake dyno will tell even more. The "cup" of the prop might make it nose over the boat, again, never know till you try. Knight seems like a pretty sharp guy so I am sure it'll get figured out :)

I reckon we got plenty of head & just enough manifold - manifold should be good to around 7200rpm when I'm done.
It does have to come out the turns hard, so I'd rather 'only just big enough' runners to plenty big runners - hence the smaller oval port ram opened up instead of a square port ram.

I don't get to play with bbc's too often, I'm having fun!

The hull will cope fine, those everinghams are good things.
Prop may well be an issue, but the owner knows a couple of clued up guys with props, they'll figure it out, that's above my pay grade!

Apparently I'm going for a ride in it with the new motor, fastest I've been in it previously was 98mph, which was an experience!
The vibration from the chop is so intense it's impossible for your eyes to focus, all you can see is blobs, a red blob is a turn marker, other coloured bigger blobs are other boats.
The water feels solid, sure wouldn't want to land in it at that speed.

 Bro, yup. Water feels at least twice as fast as land. I've been 165mph in a 50' cat. After I went to the dock it went 188mph. That 165 was faster than I have been in my vette. Focking stupid, hehe. I don't do high speed boats anymore. I do the high speed on the dyno then I do the idle, in gear, out gear and the low speed till it matches the dyno now. I got to the notion it wasn't IF, it was WHEN I was going to get dead. I've been spun out at 100mph, almost broke my leg, had my equipment pitched out, almost with me, a couple other times, etc etc. I know you can't be careful when you aren't in control while watching data but please do the best you can.

Shoot, I was with a test driver doing some tuning on a clear 34f degree day and I am rolling him through the motions after I gave him clear instructions of what to do, he decided we were racing. All my equipment was moving around all over the deck. It started to drizzle rain. Finally got him stopped, grabbed all my crapola and moved it into the cabin of this boat. I went inside where out of the wind, rain, turned on the heater and made this fack drive around. He finally stopped, opened up the cabin door and asked how we're doing. He had icicle's on his face... two more 5 mile laps please, almost done :) I was playing solitaire on my laptop.

Now that's an exhaust port.

Looks great Knight,
if you get a chance, some short turn pics of the exhaust and both intake ports would be cool to peruse. :)

Is that a Holley or a Edelbrock 7115???

Nice build! BTW
