The Torque Horsepower thread.

Post by Tom68 »

Torque comes first because it's part of the equation to display the outcome, Horsepower.

Horsepower wins races, well not really, Handling (traction aero driving etc) wins races when there's enough Horsepower to back it up.

Torque is easy, just bolt ten gearboxes in a row behind your 2 litre, stick them all in 1st and you'll have the most torque on the block.

ENJOY

Not all races. The MIG-21 was speed limited due to directional stability, so in that case there was not enough aero to support the horsepower.

The evolution of gasoline-powered World Rally Cars ended in 2021, after the 1.6 liter Toyota Yaris won the world championship.

READ A TING , LONG TIME AGO ,

605lb tq couldn't brake 200mph , but the same engine reconfigured , just took 450bhp to brake it , so there is a point where its needed regardless , also look at the 1/4 mile times , and the sort of things that simply should not be happening , fwd's and other odd tings

horsepower isn't real. it is the result of a calculation.

you can't hold it in your hand.

Neuville has it and the builder of this transmission deserves a metal.

Torque gets the car going, Horsepower keeps it going to the end of the track. The more you make of both the quicker and faster you'll go.

In the rpm range you run in. It's all relative.
