piston clearance/ rock at tdc

Post by Matt Compton »

Can somebody school me on what is acceptable piston to head clearance with directional change rock at tdc? Particularly 4.630 bore and 4.125. I feel like I should know this but I'm coming up short. Thanks.

Skirt length, rod ratio, pin offset are all factors.

And piston-to-wall clearance as a function of diameter. The same P/W clearance will produce more rock in a 4.630" bore than in a 4.125".
