Dykem and a Flow Bench
Chad,
In your video I believe you said .800 lift. Have you looked at other lifts like .25 LD?

Re: Dykem and a Flow Bench
Yes I have. I concentrated on .25 and .800. I just didn't video it. I also used .800 because that is where I have all my data over the years with probing and it just stuck.

You can also see in these two photos how far the coverage came at .800. I did things in the port, SSR, and wing.

Oh man ....
The other thread was just getting good. I'll have to take somethings up with Schmidt offline, I have an idea or two ....... ( always dangerous)

That dykem can take it's toll on the plastic bore adapters.

Re: Dykem and a Flow Bench
Seeing your gasket glued to you head reminded me of this. Thursday at 3:30AM I was in the shop making this .120 PIA. All because my dog has ear issues and we were up. The things we do!

Re: Dykem and a Flow Bench
Another big thing to me is how the port sounds. This is at 40"..
Things to notice
*oval port 172cc
*constant pitch of the port
*flow keeps climbing
*when port intruder is placed in the port, the depression goes down and then flow reattaches to the port.
*I'm a Kansas kid, we are all not farmers. Some of us are Hillbillys!

Re: Dykem and a Flow Bench
Yes, but it no longer had anything to do with the OP's original question.

Yes on trim to fit gaskets it seems easier to just make it part of the head.SpeierRacingHeads wrote: ↑Sat Apr 22, 2023 11:52 amSeeing your gasket glued to you head reminded me of this. Wouldn't redirecting it be more beneficial to the OP than locking it and shutting down all discussion?

Re: Dykem and a Flow Bench
Here is a Novel idea. How about someone why wants to continue a part of what was going on there starting a new thread like I did this one.

Re: Dykem and a Flow Bench
Sorry, I guess my question derailed the other thread. Thanks for starting this thread. The mcsa thread is fantastic. It shows the level of practical experience vs theoretical way of making improvements… I find it fascinating, I feel sure both ways of looking at mcsa lead to improvement. For what it is worth, I believe the most overlooked question with all this stuff is “ How do you want your car to behave differently?”
Re: Dykem and a Flow Bench
So I guess, based on the other thread, this begs the question; if you had the original port digitized and smoothed out in CAD along with a CFD program, would you have been time ahead using that rather than all the grinding and flowbench analysis?SpeierRacingHeads wrote: ↑Sat Apr 22, 2023 11:19 am Yes I have. I'd also like to know if CFD would have shown what actually happened in the real world. I supposed not exactly because you can't really flow it with a piston in the bore and using CFD without one is probably silly.
